2. Can I move to a different class?
If a student wishes to move to the same class on a different date, they can move if the request is received more than 10 business days prior to the first day of class and the new class is in the same calendar year. There is a required class transfer fee of costs $50.
3. I have a student who cannot attend class. Can I put another student in their place?
If a student can no longer attend class, and there is another student who can attend in their place, who also meets the prerequisites for the course, the switch can be accommodated withthe following notice:
- At least two (2) business days prior to class for in-person classes.
- At least five (5) business days prior to class for virtual classes.
4. What happens if I am late to class?
If a student arrives after the posted start time, the instructor has the discretion to grant or deny entry to the class. Attendance requirements are often firmly stipulated by the governing body, such as the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) or the National Safety Council. Decisions made by Pennoni regarding course completion requirements are final.
5. When will I receive my class certification?
Class certifications will be provided to students as soon as practicable after the final day of class, typically within three (3) business days.
6. Is lunch provided?
We provide a lunch break for class attendees; however, attendees are required bring their own lunch, or can go out and get lunch over the lunch break. Guests are welcome to use our kitchen facilities to enjoy their lunch break. Light continental breakfast is provided for in-person classes.
7. If my certificate has expired, can I still take a Refresher class?
Before enrolling, students must ensure they meet the eligibility requirements for a refresher class. This includes verifying that their prior certification is current and that they are within the permitted renewal timeframe, including if there is a grace period offered by the governing agency. Registration signifies that the student understands and accepts responsibility for meeting these prerequisites. Students who do not meet these prerequisites may be required to complete the full initial training to be certified by the governing agency.
- According to DOLI, there is a one (1) year grace period for asbestos training.
- According to DOLI, Pennsylvania does NOT allow “gaps in lead training”. Lead training taken in Pennsylvania by a DOLI-accredited lead training provider is valid for three (3) years. Every state regulates their own lead program differently and training validity periods vary from state to state.
There are no refunds for classes where a student is ineligible based on certification expiration.
8. If I am attending an in-person class, can I take a work call during class, leave early for an appointment, arrive late, etc.?
If you are unable to attend class for the entire scheduled duration, we cannot provide class certification per Labor & Industry regulation. Students who are not in full attendance, including attentiveness, participation, and necessary excercises or exams, will not receive completion or renewal credit and may be required to retake the course at their own expense.
9. If I am attending a virtual class, can I do other work, drive, take a phone call, pick up my children, etc., while taking the class?
Students enrolling in a virtual (live online, or “synchronous”) course are responsible for meeting all virtual attendance requirements consistent with EPA, PA Department of Labor and Industry, PA Department of Environmental Protection, and/or OSHA guidance as applicable. This includes: (1) consenting to continuous video and audio participation and recording of video for coursework documentation; (2) maintaining a functional internet connection for the duration of class; and (3) being fully attentive and free from distractions for the duration of class. Students may not multitask, drive, participate in calls or meetings, browse the internet, or engage with others during class. Students who do not meet these requirements will not receive completion or renewal credit and may be required to retake the course at their own expense.
10. Do you offer classes in other languages?
